Care Center Assistant
Summary: This employee is expected to perform tasks in a friendly, helpful manner to provide excellent service to client families. Collaboration and teamwork with Care Center staff as well as with location staff will be necessary to provide high quality service. It is the responsibility of the Care Center Assistant to provide support throughout the locations assigned, & to help ensure a seamless customer service process is achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver friendly, helpful service to client families at all times.
- Collaborate with Care Center and location staff to provide consistent, high‑quality service.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Utilize the phone system effectively, including taking death calls with professionalism and compassion.
- Responsible for Dressing & Casketing, and Cosmetology.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Adhere to safety procedures and use all required safety equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including general cleaning of the Care Center and garage and restocking supplies.
- Assist with transfers as needed.
- Build and maintain cooperative relationships with Funeral Directors and staff to ensure seamless service and high client family satisfaction.
- Attend mandatory safety trainings and staff meetings.
- Work outside regular scheduled hours when requested.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer‑service orientation with a friendly, compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, especially during sensitive phone calls.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and locations.
- Comfort with physically handling and preparing deceased individuals.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, safety guidelines, and documentation requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to scheduling needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check.
- Valid driver’s license.
Work Environment:
- Regular walking, talking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting/moving up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting/moving up to 200+ lbs.
- Close vision required.
- Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
- Moderate noise level.
- Weekend availability required; must be able to work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule.
