We're looking for an Event & Wedding Intern to join the team at Monumental Weddings & Events! You'll get hands-on experience helping bring weddings and special events to life at the Community Life Center, Prairie Waters, and our other beautiful venues. From giving tours and welcoming couples to helping with event details and day-of coordination, you'll learn what it takes to make an event memorable from start to finish.

This is a paid internship with approximately 20+ hours per week, offering a great opportunity to build your event planning skills, gain real-world experience, and be part of a team that loves creating meaningful experiences for families and guests. Evening and weekend availability is part of the fun! **

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Event Manager with the coordination and execution of weddings, special events, tours, and other activities
  • Assist with family and sales-related matters as directed by the Event Manager
  • Welcome and assist guests during weddings, tours, and special events while providing a professional and positive experience
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner
  • Receive event and wedding inquiries, complete necessary paperwork, and direct calls or questions to the appropriate staff member
  • Assist with tours for prospective wedding and event clients
  • Assist with wedding booking and final meetings as directed by the Event Manager
  • Assist with the set-up, execution, and breakdown of weddings and special events
  • Travel to other locations as needed to support special events and weddings
  • Operate basic computer, audio/visual, video, and other event equipment as needed
  • Provide attentive and responsive guest service throughout each event and assist with guest requests
  • Help maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for guests, staff, clergy, vendors, and other event participants
  • Respond appropriately to basic emergencies, including promptly notifying the appropriate authorities or staff
  • Complete building close-down checklists and maintenance logs as required
  • Help monitor the building and company property during designated events and take appropriate steps to prevent damage
  • Maintain professional and collegial relationships with clergy, vendors, clients, guests, and other event participants
  • Follow Buchanan Group, Inc. and Monumental Weddings & Events policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and applicable federal and state laws
  • Attend staff meetings and training as directed
  • Perform administrative tasks, including basic internet and computer functions, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Track leads and client interactions using Tripleseat and other CRM tools

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be an enrolled student in a hospitality program, Sophomore level or above preferred
  • Previous customer service, hospitality, event, or related experience is required
  • Must be willing and able to work approximately 20+ hours per week with evening and weekend availability 
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on weddings, special events, tours, and business

 

Work Environment:

  • On-site position at Monumental Weddings and Events in Indianapolis, with ability to travel reliably between event locations
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods during tours, event setups, and coordination
  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the event calendar
  • Regular use of a computer and office equipment for email communication, scheduling, and CRM systems
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, including event materials such as linens, décor, and bar supplies
  • Fast-paced, client-facing environment requiring strong multitasking and problem-solving skills
