Material Handling Associate

Summary:  The Material Handling Associate is responsible for efficiently managing the staging, receipt, crating, and uncrating of materials. This role involves the safe and careful loading and unloading of inventory, ensuring accurate and secure movement into and out of stocking locations. The associate also prepares materials for staging in the production process, maintaining a smooth workflow and supporting operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in unloading of granite inventory containers and trucks.
  • Account for inventory receipts, completing necessary forms.
  • Monitor stock of bin locations and replenish stock into bins as needed.
  • Coordinate movement of received inventory into proper stocking bins/locations.
  • Use forklift equipment to safely and efficiently move granite inventory throughout plant.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes during execution of duties.
  • Blank Stock Product – Locate and pull inventory from bin locations for blank stock orders.
  • Blank Stock Product – Uncrate and quality inspect all inventory prior to shipment.
  • Blank Stock Product – Inspect and ensure product being shipped is consistent in color to orders.
  • Blank Stock Product – Properly crate all inventory according to specifications.
  • Participate in crating and uncrating of granite material.
  • Periodically, and as assigned, conduct cycle count of inventory and document count.
  • Safely operate fork truck during execution of duties.
  • Participate in counting and documenting physical inventory counts.
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Have transportation to work
  • Have good communication skills
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Present a clean, well-groomed appearance
  • Able to drive and handle fork lift trucks.
  • Able to read and understand order processing procedures
  • Able and willing to follow company policies including safety and OSHA regulations

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in general production/factory/warehouse operations and in the use of material handling equipment such as fork lifts

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
